As we were leaving town we saw, well, were not sure what we
saw. A red neck yacht or an enterprising
re-cycler, you decide.
The drive was only 45 miles which gave us time to look
around downtown before having lunch.
Durango’s downtown area is set amongst the mountains which gives it a
very picturesque setting.
We did some window shopping, pay a visit to the welcome center and just enjoyed walking the main street. Just as we were trying to decide if it was early enough for lunch it started to rain, decision made.
It looked like it might a fierce one as all of a sudden it started to hail.
The hail was pea size and didn’t last very long, neither
did the rain, much to the locals. It is
pretty dry here and there are forest fires burning not that far away. The fire has already taken out one ski lodge.
We spent a little more time in Durango before heading
back to Bloomfield to get ready for tonight.
As we left town we were able to get a couple of pictures of the
valley. It had recently rained so the
light for picture taking was not great.
I liked Durango and have logged in the memory back to get
back there when we have more time.
Tonight we took in a local production of the play
“Grease”. I was disappointed that Olivia
Newton John was there but still enjoyed the show. I would rate it good considering it was
summer theatre using local talent. The
unique and appealing aspect was that it was done outdoors at an Amphitheater.
It was a great setting and the acoustics were pretty
good. Overall we enjoyed it and it was a
great way to end out stay in Bloomfield.
